Today the 8 of November 2001 we ordered the boat by Cheasapeake light craft in Annapolis MD This is how it's supposed to look like when we finish, if you want to know more about boatbuilding click on the picture it will take you to CLCboats The kit from CLCboats came to Laredo texas in the beginning of December 2001, because of problems with the Mexican costums, it arrived to Mexico city in the middle of January, as you see, we started building emidiately. Following the manuel from CLCboats we had no problems asambling the shell, but we have a lot of problem waiting for the epoxi to dry, the tempratures in Mex. City is at the moment around 20 degrees C daytime, thats OK, but in the night it comes down to about 5 degrees C and thats BAD, we have curing times up to 48 houers. Everytime we glue or paint with epoxies we have to WAIT, WAIT, WAIT Photo taken January 20.
We gets on with it, now we did the fiberglassing on the outside and as allways WAIT 48 houers, you see a brown patch on the front, thats epoxy with microballoons. Because of different tensions in the wood its imposible to get the exactly same form on both sides of the hull, so to get it perfect we had to patch one side. No problem with a good eye and magic hands. Photo taken January 23.
The foredeck is in place and glued. As you see we had to grab all our special tools to get in the place we wanted. If you start building a boat, you can buy special tools by me or Chris, they are very expencive but will save you a lot of time. Without these tools you will have to hold on with your hands for about 24 houers. Photo taken January 27.
Deck painted with epoxy first time,we are getting experts. Photo January 30.
Epoxied the deck second time, before that we made a test spraypainting the inside hull with this nice and discreet, yellow color. Christian choose this color because his football (soccer) team is AMERICA and they are yellow and blue, we plan to paint the hull outside yellow, with darkblue comings and a darkblue stripe over the deckjoints (to cover the nails) the deck will stay natural wood under 3 layers of varnish. We allso epoxied the hull second time. Photo taken February 2.
We went to Miami for the weekend so the ship had to wait, when we came back we put on the last 2 pieces of wood. Now we are ready to start sanding, spraypainting, sanding, spraypainting.Photo taken on February 8
The deck is spraypainted 1. time. Photo taken on February 10.

We took her out in the sun for the first time, photo taken middle of Mars |
As CLC had a long delivery time for the rowwing, we had a lot of time to do the finishing works, we did'nt know about this untill we ordered the wing, but because of this we got a delay of about 6 weeks
We got the rowwing, Chris is exited, he wants to row, but first we had to change the design of the fastening mechanism for the rowwing, the one provided is in my opinion to simple, and as this boat is going to be stored in a hangar with a lot of young people coming through, we made it more diffical to take it out, and added some aluminium angels to keep it in place.Photo taken beginning of April 2002
We made it to the water, hoping that we did'nt build a submarine. We had a small namegiving party, Christans grandmother (my mother in love) did the baptism. As we had to find a name that fits, we called her Guillermina which is the name of Granny, she is slow a little heavy, but has a good behaviour. Chris got into the Oxford single scollar with a big smile on his face and took of like an arrow, I felt like crying because for me it was the end of the fun, building a boat with my son, and at the same time happy seeing Chis crossing the waves, this guy can row, to see how good go to the page Chris Rowing
